Kilauea vulcano Helicopter flight, Kona, Hawaii
In april 2016 we flew to Hawaii, USA, island hopping Maui, Kauai and the big island Kona. We crossed the island from Captain Cook to Hilo airport for our trip with Paradise helicopters.
We had especially booked a flight with the Hughes MD500E helicopter because this Big Island helicopter ride from Hilo isn’t your average helicopter tour. You won’t simply stare out of glass windows – this helicopter is OPEN-DOOR, meaning there’s nothing between you and these amazing Hawaiian sights with lava and waterfalls, Because of the open doors, we were not allowed to take pictures, the danger of letting the camera fall and the risk of hitting the tail rotor is not acceptable.
The Volcanoes & Waterfalls air adventure tour form Paradise helicopters showcases the how the story of Hawaii is inextricably linked to the elements. We flew over over Kīlauea, the most active volcano on earth, and searched out glowing red lava, evidence that this fiery hot spot is constantly cycling through both creation and destruction. However, the windward side also catches enough rain to make Hilo the wettest city in the United States.
The Kilauea vulcano flight is in my opinion a must do once in Hawaii. Hands down the best helicopter ride I’ve ever been on!  It was simply awesome, I could smell the trees burning and feel the heat from the volcano. It was a once in a lifetime experience!!
Absolutely Awesome! Fantastic Pilot – Great soundtrack & great commentary!
